can you get sound from back and front of case

hi all strange question i know but

im getting a new case which has something called azalia connections aswell as ac97 also the mobo i am getting gives pin outs for both of these

now in the old days i knew u could not have say your pc speakers connected at the back line out and then use headphones on your cases headphone socket at front


is this possible now

mobo in question is the asus a8nvm micro atx going to pair it with a sugo

from what i know, sure you can have speakers plugged in back but soon as something is in that fron jack i believe the back one is knocked out untill the jack is removed, im not 100% sure on it though
