Indeed you can, google "male vga to female dvi". Just connect the adapter to the graphics card and connect the monitor to the adapter using a standard DVI cable.
Thanks for the reply. I've come across one on the bay and the description was
'THIS ADAPTER SHOULD BE CONNECTED TO A DVI-I CABLE IN ORDER FOR THE VGA SIGNAL TO TRANSFER THROUGH. DVI-I CABLES WILL HAVE THE 4 SMALL PINS SUROUNDING THE LARGE FLAT BLADE TERMINAL, WITH THESE THE CABLE WILL NOT WORK. '
But the DVI cable I have doesn't have the 4 pins around the blade. Does this mean I'd have to buy another cable aswell?
I suggest not getting it from the bay, when the guy refers to "DVI-I" my ears ***** up. Go for any decent retail company and you should get a converter for under a tenner.
Anyway, i just looked at a dual link DVI cable (DVI-D) I got from my dell monitor - it also doesn't have 4 pins around the blade - so I really wouldn't worry. Basically what you want is an adapter where the VGA end looks like this and the DVI end looks like this.
I was under the impression that this couldn't be done because the VGA signal from your graphics card isn't the right signal to drive a DVI monitor. It might be worth getting a cheap graphics card with a DVI port. I'm sure you could find a cheap one for around £10-£15
Hi as long as you get vga to DVI-A the signal will be transferred in analogue and will work fine. 1 of these cables good quality can be purchased off ebay for about a 10er.
But with you havin a monitor supporting a digital input ya better off getting a new GPU as its worth the better picture quality, a nice cheap hd 3650 will do the job nicely.
