A device that will plug into my NAS (Cable networked Hard Drive unit) and allow me to make it wireless.

I am hoping to be able to do away with the CAT5 cable and somehow make the unit wireless.

Is this at all possible in any way ?

You're looking for a wireless bridge. Netgear/Linksys/D-Link etc all make one so choose the features you need.

Some wireless routers support bridging or a point-to-point mode but expect more configuration if you choose a device that isnt designed specifically for the job.

As above. I would advise against buying a wireless ethernet bridge though. Yes, the pre-builts will be easy to setup comparatively, but they are more expensive and offer little functionality when compared with something like a wireless router running dd-wrt which can be configured (quite easily) as a client bridge.

Wireless bridges can typically cost £10-20 more than a router which can be flashed to run dd-wrt.
