Hey guys first time posting, long time lurker :)

I have an around 700-800 pound budget as I really want a pc that will last a good bit. I study comp science so I can get the OS free, happy days :D I also have a keyboard, mouse and crappy dell lcd monitor from 6 years ago which Ill upgrade later.

Was thinking about getting the 'Titan Triceratop' with a gtx 570. http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=FS-179-OE&groupid=43&catid=2040&subcat=1444

I was thinking maybe in the future when programs/games start to get a bit out of my league I could stick in another GPU and run it in sli?......Would it be possible with that set up?

If not could you spec me a pc around that budget range that would?

The reason im selecting the pre built first is I'd be worried about f-ing up the build process or overclocking as its costing me quite a bit. But my friend said your first build feels 'better than sex'...so im a bit torn. Mind you he likes sticking his 'harpoon in the whales' if you catch my drift.

Thanks guys any help appreciated!

If you take it slow and read manuals properly, its pretty easy to build your own. Also you'll be able to get a bit more bang for your buck. I would really consider building your own as not only is it enjoyable to do, once its done and running smoothly theres a real sense of achievement.

Its pretty simple to do. Ive built my 2 systems this year by myself and so far no **** ups :) You will definitey be able to get a great system for your money, even more so if you can pluck up the courage to build it :D

Good luck

I would build it yourself, there are some videos up at Youtube showing how to do this,

As for that pre-built system, the PSU isnt enough for a pair of GTX570 cards and the motherboard may not be SLI compatible.

Haha thanks for the pep talk CM-Sniper, definitley gonna do it now :P

Those videos where the cherry on top stulid, getting me all excited even though I havent even done/bought anything. Been looking in this forum the past few weeks and you are definitley the man for linking specs so im glad you did it for me :)

I'm gonna buy this once my money comes in... thanks guys.

Ok sure, itll probably be tomorrow night ill order, so they come in friday. I was just wondering what about a cpu cooler if im gonna overclock? Will the stock do or am I pushing it... I could squeeze an extra few quid if it was compulsory.

Well tomorrow morning the weekly deals change, so things like the RAM will probably change depending on whats the best value for money.

I was just wondering what about a cpu cooler if im gonna overclock?

The stock item is fine for around 4GHz± a bit, the case has a nice big hole in the rear tray allowing the fitment of a bigger aftermarket cooler to be fitted at a later date without any drama.

An extra 120mm fan wont go a miss - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=FG-010-CM&groupid=701&catid=57&subcat=4 - add it to the front of the case to draw in cool air while the fan that comes fitted at the rear expells the hot air.

Also by tomorrow the AMD Bulldozer reviews will be out and the truth about whether its a flop or a alternative to a Sandybridge build will be known (but early leaks are looking a bit pants).

Ahh I see. Well before I buy which will hopefully be tomorrow.. ill post in this thread what im getting.

Big thanks for the advice mate.

OK im gonna buy this system now... the gtx 570 price went up by 14 quid.. ouch. But the 2500k price went down by a tenner and ive choosen a different colour of ram for the weekly deal so its an all clear. However I am thinking of changing the harddrive to the western digital 500gb..

Just wondering would i need to buy and sata cables or whatever for the hardrive etc? Or is there anything else I could change?

This is the card - http://www.asus.com/Graphics_Cards/NVIDIA_Series/ENGTX570_DCII2DIS1280MD5/#specifications -its a big'un.

The motherboard comes with SATA data cables for the drives.
The PSU has all the connectors you need.
The CPU includes a heatsink with thermal paste pre-applied.

You could add a aftermarket heatsink with the £30 left over, upto you?
