Hi, thanks for reading.

The symptoms: when loading windows, and sometimes even before windows starts loading, the display will mess up, become ugly colours stretched all over the place, black and white, etc etc. It seems like after the computer has been running for five minutes or so after a restart it works. This has been going on for a couple of months and I've been ignoring it.

It's started getting intermittent freezes, not often, but a couple of times a day perhaps. Now, when loading windows it'll often freeze before it gets anywhere, try another ten times and it might work. I figured that all the restarts had corrupted windows somehow, so I just formatted and reinstalled windows. It's often failing to finish loading even the new install.

It sometimes clunks a bit, when it's warming up to start working, got no idea what that is.

So, I'm wondering if it might be the graphics card, or ram, or whatever else it could be really.

Can anyone offer any advice?

Thanks

Open her up and see if anything is loose..

I'd re-seat the RAM and check all connections to peripherals.

Try running mem test to check your RAM, and prime or Orthos to check system stability and perhaps 3d win mark to test your graphics.

Is this a new build, if yes, have setup voltages a timmings for your memory.

Thanks for the replies,

I reseated the ram, graphics etc. and that didn't help. So I got hold of another graphics card and since then it seems to be working well, so I guess that was it.

Strangely, my system doesn't keep the hour information of the time/date upon turning off... The date and minutes are kept but the hours is lost.. Strange.
