Hi ocuk! It seems I have a problem with my Samsung 1TB hard drive...

I cant boot into windows with it plugged in, just get a blank screen after the vista load bar. When I unplug it it boots fine. Its a storage drive with nothing but data on it (no windows files). Its partitioned into 4 parts, and when I plug it in with windows on it just locks up after only recognising 1 of the partitions.

I have lots of valuable data on it and want to know how to recover it! It was working very well yesterday, but today not it seems.

Whats the matter with it and how can I even run a scan on it if it freezes windows?

Thanks for any input you can give.:(

Hello Welcome to OcUk forums! :)

Have you changed SATA cable as perhaps your has become faulty?

Also have you run the official Samsung diagnostics CD? (you can download it from their website as an .ISO to burn).

thanks for the reply. Ive checked all my cables, and they seem fine, as for the samsung diagnostics cd it says it will erase my data to check the integrity of the drive, is this really the case? Has anyone had any experience using this as that isnt something I want to risk!?
