Hi i recently bought a second 560ti (KFa2 ex oc edtion)
to use in SLI mode but im having some issue's with the second GPU being a hell of a lot hotter then the top card.

on idle they seem ok

gpu 1 = 37c
gpu 2 = 41c

but as soon as i start playing games it is like

Gpu 1= 50c
GPu 2 = 70-80c

i have a bottom mounted PSU (xfx 750 wat) the second card is directely above this and im wonderign if this has soemthing to do with it.

ive swapped the cards around to check if its a faulty card but no matter what card is in the second slot it will be hotter. so the cards seem fine.

i have a window fan blowing cold air straight onto the 2 cards

are these temps normal or should they be closer to teh same?

also can i use afterburner to check temps etc instead of using extreme tuner HD which comes with my card or does my card have to be msi

is there any chance you can get a fan on the side blowing onto the cards.....I have the hafx case and this has side fans that keep the cards nice and cool.....it is all ways a problem with heat when running sli or xfire if you cant get some cooling on the cards...also afterburner works fine.

You usually get a 10˚ difference on average between the two cards, 50˚ at load sounds very low to me, 70-80˚ sounds about right. As above get a side fan blowing some air onto them if you can.

Are you sure that the card that stays at a low temperature is not staying at idle clock speeds while the other card is operating at gaming clock speeds?

he said that idle was 37/41....and gaming was 50/80....seems it is just cooloing needed on the cards as 1 card will allways be hotter than the other.....thought i would just add that as its me 500th post :)

What direction do you have the fan on you're PSU blowing? Do you have it blowing up into the case or do you have it blowing out a vent o the bottom?

One of my cards was getting near 90 degrees under sustained load so I turned the psu upside down to blow the air out the vent on the bottom and added 2 of those fans you have and now it idles at 74.

The PSU fan is sucking in air as far as i can tell (it will be how ever it comes as default xfx 750 pro series xxx edition)
i have the window fan blowing onto the GPU's
i have the CPU/radiator Fan with a push pull configuration blowing out the back.
and 2x 120mm fans in the front sucking in air

i should probs mention its a Antec DF 10 case

Just a thought, is there a vent underneath your PSU to allow it suck in cooler air from the bottom? I would suggest this if possible as it's only sucking in hot air from the GPU other wise.

If you have fans up near the mobo at the back and top of the case make these pull the air out and make the 2 in the side case blow in, that would give better air and fair flow IMO.

EDIT: Is that an all-in-one liquid cooler for the CPU? I have one of them there great. You should have that fan pulling air out of the case and if there's a big fan up top have that pulling air out as hot air rises anyway, no point in tryin to push it back down.

EDIT 2: (Disregard)

EDIT 3: Those are non-reference cards yeah? Some of those don't use an exhaust system to blow the hot air out the back so the air might be getting blown around the case instead of out the back, have a check with the case open to see if it's comin out the back by your HDMI port or if it's just coming off all around the card.

Thanks mate for advice , i may consider making a slight mod to the bottom of my case so i can flip the psu around.

the graphics cards blow air out the back too im guessing thats what you mean by exhaust system.

edit.

i just updated my bios and for soem reason my temps are almost exact same on both cards even after 2 hours of non-stop Dirt 3 on highest settings and 1080p :D

57c and bottom one just 60c :D

maybe i messed some settings up in bios previously and the flashed bios has reset everything :D

thanks for help guys appreciate it
