Im looking at either an EVGA GeForce GTX 570 HD 2560MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card or a or a MSI GeForce GTX 580 OC Twin FrozR II 1536MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card. They are roughly the same price. The 570 has a fair bit more RAM. Which would be the better card to get? I've read that BF3 needs a lot of ram on the GPU.
Thanks!

The 580 will give you better performance. If you plan on going SLI the 570s may be a better option because of the extra ram. But that's not for sure.

Well in BF3 for example the 570 will net you a 45fps average at max in multiplayer. The 580 will net you 55fps. So it's a decent step up but if money is tight I think the 570 1.3Gb is a better bang for buck card.

Dice themselves have said that only multi-GPU set-ups will max BF3 at 60fps+.

2x 570 or maybe an overclocked 580 with a decent cooler on it could just about do it.

If you're willing to go to 2x MSAA then a single 570 or 580 or 560Ti SLI will do the trick.

The Nvidia cards tend to do better in BF3 but an SLI 6950/70 might do it.

What is the rest of your PC specs/resolution before you buy anything?

Assuming you have a decent cpu and playing at 1080p:

You could save some cash and get either a 2Gb 560/6950 and overclock the nuts out of it, for about £50 less, they will both reach the same performance as a 570, but have a little more vram to play with regarding BF3.

If you have £375 burning a hole in your pocket you may well be interested in going SLI or CrossFire(@kissenger, not SLI, but I'll let you off this time:p) with the above cards as they will destroy a 570/80 in any game!

Advisable to stick to the vendor that you are used to though.

SLI 6950/70 might do it.

Will do it, I can tell you that BF3 with 2Gb 6950 CrossFire gives fantastic performance and I'm assuming the 2Gb 560 will achieve very similar results!

Note that there is an announcement on Monday from AMD regarding the new 7 series, although it's looking likely that they won't be out until mid January.
