Hi gona install vista on my PC in a bit but my hard drive has about 200Gb of DVD movies and games which I have backed up. Is there a way to install vista with out a format or is a format the only way ??

thanks for any help ! ;)

providing you have enough free space, it's fine to leave the file system intact and install vista alongside your current data. :)

Does that mean you're planning on doing an upgrade installation (i.e. installing over XP)? If so, that's probably not a good idea. Upgrade installations of any version of Windows are notorious for causing problems.

Well I was gona do that until I read your post so I have decided to not now.

I have 2 hard drives

Drive C = XP installed

Drive F = Loads of DVD`s and games on it with no Operating system on it.

Can you remember what the option is during the vista install to just install on the drive with out formatting ?? little paranoid I will wipe my drive clean on C
