Can you microwave Plasticine?

I have some Plasticine but it's too hard to mould. Can I put it in the microwave to soften it?

It might dry it out, or just wrap it in polythene and put in hot water

Maybe work it with a few drops of linseed oil on your hands.

Yep the oil has evaporated...heating will not help, it needs moisture.

I hear working it into layers with some petroleum jelly can also fix it...

Yes, but the only safe way to do it is in the middle of a CD with the shiny side up to prevent the radioactivity from drying it out.

Put it in a container with some water somewhere warm (normally on the radiator if we were in winter). Water and warmth will soften the plasticine.
