Can you mis match RAM?

Yes you can mismatch brands, as long as both sets will run at the same voltages. If the timings e.g. cas settings are different, then you may have to set the timings manually to the lowest of the two sets (rather than relying on Auto/XMP profiles)

Yes you can, But Brand does not make a difference. Only capacity and speed makes the difference. For maximum performance mostly people recommend using sticks that have same speed and capacity across all ram slots, but this does not mean that rams sticks of different capacity and speed will not work if they installed together.

^ Sound advice from bledd, I've even had different revisions of the same memory (same part number) fail to work properly together.

Any small issue that crops up and you'll be pointing at the ram. If there is an incompatibility, it's time consuming and frustrating to diagnose it. For the cheap price or ram, it's not worth the risk.

If you give your pc a solid base, ie matched ram and a good psu, then you should be plain sailing.
