try searching for the mac gallery, there should be shots of Macbook's on there.

While pictures are good you can't beat going down to the Apple shop and seeing them for real.

You can have a picture of where I've had to repair mine. It developed a split in the bottom right-hand corner which I've had to patch up with some tape.

did you know that they'll fix that for you (i think its a design fault )? my girlfriend just went up to the genius bar, and they replaced the face plate and keyboard for her

i think you can still have it fixed outside of warranty, because it is a manufactoring fault. Worth popping in to ask

I believe you're right; my housemate had hers fixed late last year, and I'm fairly sure it was out of warranty.

Woah nice one - I'm glad I took the effort to post that now. I've had it 15 months now but worth a shot!

if you have apple care they'll defo do it for you give it a go!

Nah I turned down extending Applecare. I basically said if anything is going to go (case aside) it'll be the hard drive and I can replace that myself.

When I get chance I will pop into the Apple store and enquire.

That crack happened to my Macbook a few days back. Very happy now though to know it is a common fault so i can get a new faceplate. Do i phone up apple or take it to a store? Never dealt with apple care before.

Well my gf just took it into a nearby apple store, but they kept it over night, because it was a sunday, and they only fix things mon - fri, plus there was something wrong with her screen. I reckon if it just a crack they'll do it straight away!

a quick search in google for 'macbook crack' shows its a very common problem

It is a common problem. Happened on my gf's mac book. happened under both magnets and they fixed it.
She phoned Apple and they told her to take it to a repair center. It is easier to go to the apple store though.
