Can you please spec me for £400?

That is £484.98 with Windows 7. So you probably could.

What is it going to be used for? Do you want to play any games and at what resolution?

Do you have other things like speakers/headset, keyboard&mouse etc?

If you have an existing computer, what is it's spec.

I have a keyboard, monitor, Windows 7 Professional disc, mouse and speakers. I want to be able to play games like BF:BC2 on medium settings, if that's possible with a £400 budget.

I'm pretty much sold here.

2 questions:

I have a PNY NVIDIA GeForce 250 GTS (512mb) graphics card lying around. Is the one you listed better?

Will 400W be sufficient?

Many thanks! :D

That Corsair 400W is more than enough for a GTS 250 (I wouldn't bother swapping as they're pretty similar in terms of performance).

If you're saving money by keeping your current GPU you could upgrade the motherboard & CPU to these ones:

That with the GTS 250 should play BC2 well.

Sorry to bother you guys again but how does this look:

The manual for the graphics card I have here states:

Minimum 450W or greater system power supply (with a minimum 12V current rating of 24A)

Also will I be able to run off onboard graphics until I install the 250 GTS?

the PSU in that build will most likely be low quality, but may run a GTS 250, although im not sure

if your trying to save money you could look into getting the x2 555 and unlocking the other 2 cores to make it a quad, although do look into it as not all motherboards are able to do it.

the build posted before with the phenomII 955 was better.

In my opinion it's worth the extra for the better case/power supply. The Pure Midi Tower & that 450W PSU are very cheaply made and nowhere near the quality of the Xigmatek case or the Corsair PSU. And yes you can use the onboard graphics until you've installed your GTS 250. :)

Very nice little build you got there, enjoy..

Glad you stayed away from cheap case with a generic psu route :p

Order arrived. Simple enough thus far. Can I just confirm that the only two fans I require are the fan that came preinstalled at the front of the case and the fan inside with the PSU? The guides I am following mention other fans. Many thanks.

it should be fine, your not using a graphics card? which is where most sources of heat come from.
