Hey folks, question...

We are doing a favor for a friend's office, they basically use WiFi at the moment at there is a two floor gap between them and the upstairs office.

It works fine, however, they need the downstairs office to be wired, patch panels are not an option due to cost.

We tried using powerline (plug) adaptors, and whilst we managed to get it to work, the speed was unbearably slow!

So the plan is this (it is only needed to be a temporary 6 month at most job) could we do this;

1) Purchase a Wireless Extender/Repeater which has a LAN Port

2) Plug an 8 port switch into the LAN Port of the extender.

3) Feed LAN cables from the switch to each PC

Is that a workable scenario? If so, are there any particular extenders you would recommend?

I know what you mean, unfortunately due to the distance wiring is not really an option because the floor inbetween is an issue.

Oddly, with them using WiFi its actually quick even though the router is on the top floor, which is why I thought using a WiFi repeater could solve the issue.

The powerlines we found did not work on most of the plug sockets and the one it did was just beyond slow.
