Can you put a 9w bulb in an 11w desk lamp? (g23 fluorescent bulb)

Hey guys... If i had a desk lamp that takes a g23 fluorescent bulb that says 11w... can i put a 9w g23 in that lamp?

So long as you don't go over 11w then you will be fine.

its still always 240v, it'll just pull less watts, it wont be at bright thats all

should everyone understand electrics? its not something you learn at school or anything so why are people stupid for not understanding it?

i guess the same people would say he is stupid for asking if it was ok to put a 50w bulb in its replacment.. would people understand why this was a stupid idea or not..
