I have Quest 3 and an HP Reverb G2.

I'm looking for recommendations on what flight sim/arcade game to buy.

Really would prefer to use it with my Xbox controller whilst sat on my sofa with my feet up. Waving vr controllers around just doesn't grab my fancy.

I'm a complete noob at flight games. At this point probably I'd be better looking at arcade stuff rather than sims? Just want a bit of fun in the air really. Not too serious.

I believe MS flight Sim can be used with Xbox controllers. Would MSFS be worth getting for a complete noob?

Many thanks for your advice.

MSFS is great for both VR and as a beginner. It works perfectly fine on Xbox controller, it’s even sold for the Xbox itself.

Only limitation of MSFS in VR is that it needs a fairly beefy system to run it.
Sounds good. I've been having a google at prices. There seems to be a few variations around. I've seen 40th anniversary edition and msfs 2020. Not sure if I saw some other versions too. I could be getting confused with similar sounding titles. Is it best just to stick with msfs 2020 then?

P.s. I've a 5800x3d cpu and a 3080 ti gpu so hoping these might be ok.

MS will be releasing a 2024 version of Flight Sim next year so it might be worth subbing to Game Pass to try 2020/40th (they're the same thing) rather than purchasing it outright.

Good advice but I just bit the bullet before I read your post. Impetuous millionaire, that I am. (Gutted :). Got it from Eneba for £33. Downloading 40th anniversary edition now.

Thank you folks.

The VR flight in Elite Dangerous gets lots of good feedback. You would have course need to get down near the planet surfaces for anything that feels remotely like terresterial flight, but you get rewarded boosting through km high canyons with newtonian physics (or more aircraft like with "Flight assist on") at up to 800m/s. Alternatively the combat zones out in space so with the right ship you get that "looking over my shoulder desperately jockeying to get on their tail before they get on mine", or the asteroid rings when I'm outgunned.

Not for everyone, but its down to £5 on steam right now.

Ah, now you remind me, that is in my library. I got it a couple of years ago for peanuts on steam. Spent 20 minutes on it before I gave up on the, what is for me, steep learning curve. Heard good things about it though. Must give it another go someday soon. For now though I'm going to have a bit of fun (I hope) with Msfs.
