I built my PC in 2009
I have the following motherboard:
Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD5 Intel X58 (Socket 1366) PCI-Express DDR3 Motherboard
I bought tri-channel memory for it because I read this gave the best performance for this board:
Patriot Viper 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800 (1600MHz) Low Latency Tri-Channel (PVT36G1600LLK)
If I want to increase the amount of RAM I have what is my best course of action? I read you should not mix RAM types so i'm confused as to whether I can add to what I have (if so what with), whether I should ditch what I have and start over with new RAM, or whether I should not consider buying RAM for this mobo as it's so old i should update to something newer.
Hope someone can advise - please feel free to ask if you have further questions.
