Can you redeem a warranty on an item you got as a gift?

Not sure if this is the right place for it, but I've had loads of issues with a Sapphire Stock 7900 XTX I got as a gift. I've got both the order number and invoice forwarded to me and am just now filling out an Overclockers webticket for an RMA because Sapphire just told me to go straight to the retailer. I can always ask my mate, who originally ordered it, to fill it out for me but its just a bit of hassle really. Thanks for reading and tell me if I should be putting this in a different forum.

If You have the receipt you should be fine as it's a gift.

I do did an RMA for a razor mouse, through razor with proof of purchase that wasn't in my name.

I can always ask my mate, who originally ordered it, to fill it out for me but its just a bit of hassle really.

This is the safest option, because most warranties are not transferable and giving companies an excuse is usually not... wise.

It will probably be returned to the address on the invoice, so hope your mate is local to you.

Thanks lads, haven't sent out a request yet. I was planning on taking the safer option and asking my freidn to fill it out and I'll probably keep with that. It would be a fair assumption that I'd bought it second hand or literally stolen, both of which probably void the warranty. Thanks for the help.
