Just a random question, I don't intend to try and get my 5p per bag back but what are peoples thoughts.. A supermarket has a return policy of 30 days. You can return anything in that time which you decide you no longer want or it is not quite what you thought, eg if you bought some kitchen scales, took them home tried them out and realised the quality is not good so took them back...

Could you use this same argument with a bag? It's noted on your receipt as 5p, 6p etc?:confused:

Lol. You could try and let us know.

I think there is a usage rule in place for simple refunds.

I don't know how far you'd get claiming it is faulty. They'll probably just refund it.

Occado will give you 5p back for every bag you return on subsequent home deliveries.
Andi.

It's all a bit random though. Sometimes you get charged for more bags than were delivered. Then when you hand over a bundle used bags to the driver, you just go 'about a dozen there mate', could be more, could be less.

Haha I like the idea.
I just reuse them and use the occasional ones for bedroom/bathroom bin but then that's mainly corner shop which still has old style ones, supermarkets either get them delivered or take a rucksack.

What I've found funny when shopping recently is how many people, some quite inventively, try and get out of paying 5p for a bag but had 5p conveniently to hand so knew they were likely to have to pay it also had to laugh at some guy making a bit of drama about it when he was purchasing expensive electrical goods :s

You don't have to get inventive down here...

Go to the self service, press zero when it asks how many bags you want, fill as many bags as you like, leave.

I asked the sales assistant in Gap this and she said someone had recently returned one and after discussing with her manager they allowed it.

Where you live? I haven't seen any, in fact all I've seen is massive embrace of the scheme, with basically the only ones being sold in corner shops and self service checkouts.

'Returnable bags and bags for life
You’re not required to apply the 5p charge for:
woven plastic bags
multiple reuse bags (bags for life), when replaced, if originally sold for 5p or more
You can still charge for these bags but you don’t need to record sales and proceeds as you do with single-use carrier bags.
A returnable multiple reuse bag must be all of the following:
sold for 5p or more
suitable for reuse
replaced free of charge if returned to you when worn out'

It amuses me how much drama a 5p bag can make.
Most people won't pick up a 5p if they drop it. Yet pay for a bag? Hell no!

I always buy them, 5p makes zero difference.
