Hi,

having been a pc gamer for as long as I can remember I know I can't return pc games due to piracy etc. However, can you return ps3 games if you don't like them? Or can you only trade in?

Well i guess it's possible if you put up a good enough fight but i'd doubt it purely due to a retailers policy. I know you can return games bought online within a certain time frame but that's due to the distance selling act.

dont think you can return them for a refund, not due to piracy but simply to stop people playing the game to completion, then returning for a refund 25 days later or whatever.

Just trade them in and then get store credit to buy other games with.

I managed to return a copy of MW2 tonight to ASDA as I got a copy cheaper from Morrisons at lunchtime.

At first they refused and showed me there terms of how they police there rules but once I asked to speak to the manager he just told the girl at customer services to do the refund.

My game was sealed and unopened so I probably had more of a case to get my refund. I also lied by showing 2 sealed copies and saying the other my mother had bought me from an ASDA store in a town close by so an error had happend and I ended up with the 2 copies.

Even after that they still reiterated it is a one off and they wont do it again.

They cant refuse a refund if the game is still factory sealed.

Surely returning a game for the premise that you just don't like it is a bit naff. You could burn though a title in a weekend and then return it because you "don't like it"

If it's sealed, fair play they should take it back. Opened, it'll be a trade in.

I don't think that's true, at least with face to face shop sales. If you try to return something just because you don't like it, the store is well within their rights to tell you to get lost. Of course most stores have their own policies on top that let you return things.

When I was younger I used to regularly buy a game, complete it and return it the following week and buy the next latest release. I did it for weeks on the new releases but GAME eventually caught on what people were doing and stopped it :(

do game not still do that ''10 day no questions asked refund'' thing ? when i got an eggbox on launch i abused the hell out of that rule

Depends where you bought it from, HMV will accept it back in perfect condition if it was "a present for my brother and he already has it", they'll normally just ghive you store credit.

Consumer law is what matters not store terms you can get a refund. if you have problems just goto your local advice centre who will give you a letter to take to the shop. ive done it.

but does consumer law say that you can return something due to not liking it or finding it cheaper elsewhere.

suppose you could disagree with the eula maybe?

Where I work we will take games back up untill the point that you open them, then if you simply dont like it, we will at best offer you a trade in value... Bit guff I know but it stops people buying, playing and returning for something else.
