Just as title.

I want to run a lamp off a big ups but the lamp has a standard UK plug. I have seen an adapter gang lead where you can plug said gang lead into the back of the ups and and plug the standard UK plug into this

Mains > ups > gang lead > lamp

Will this work? And also seeing as I will be using only 100w at most will a 1500kva 1200w psu supply this lamp for a substantial time? Graphs seem to suggest up to 2 hours run time

I run my modem, router, two computers and two displays off of a UPS via the gang plugs you describe. I don't see why a lamp would be a problem.

Sounds good, I didn't think there would be. Hopefully 60-100w lamp should last a while!

Need to source both a gang lead and UPS

I would be interested to know too. I'm afraid of the dark (yeah really) and therefore powercuts get me every time. Would be nice if was possible to have a lamp nearby on the same rig. OP - have you considered an LED lamp too? That will use less than a tungsten lamp.

My UPS came with a warning not to connect a laser printer to it, but I assume that's because of the way laser printers draw power in bursts. A 100w bulb shouldn't pose a problem.

Edit: a quick search for "IEC to 4way UK Gang Socket" yields a number of results. The ones I use were made by Belkin.

It will work.

I changed the 3-pin plug on a gang lead with an IEC-female connector and plugged it straight into the UPS.
The gang lead is connected to a small PFsense server, VDSL modem and a couple of other bits (not mine, sadly).

I would recommend a second hand UPS', replace the battery and put it somewhere away from inflammable objects.

Should be fine. Main problem with UPS is the whole Stepped vs Pure Sine Wave thing... but I've not actually had any issues with any of my PC/Network gear I run off my APC one.

Its for keeping our chicks heated and incubator on if we have a power cut. There is a diesel generator nearby, but I need to access it manually and I work far enough from home that the birds/eggs would likely be dead without it.

I have managed to find a 1200w 1500va one , I think it should be OK, its brand new
