I have just fetted a new R9 290x to my system, and GPUz is reporting PCIe 3 @ x4. but i feel i am getting x16 bandwidth in the tests i have run as the card looks to be performing at full speed.

Could some kind sole run a few Gpu test for me with a single R9 290z at stock speeds.

could you run
sky diver test
fire strike test
cinebench R15 OpenGL test
i am only interested in the gpu part of the tests if you could post a link that would be supper

the reason i feel the card is at full speed is i am gaming at 1440 and getting a no frame drop, my monitor at 60hz and i am getting a solid 60fps

Even if it is running PCIe v3 x4 that's still plenty of bandwidth, hence you won't be able to measure a difference from a x16 card.

Motherboard and or Windows power setting issue, or incorrect software reading most likely. :)

You can use Radeon Settings to check the current PCI-E speed.

This is because the PCIe setting is changing dynamically. I noticed it when I ran Valley bench mark in windowed mode with GPUZ open. At idle it was x4 but when the benchmark kicked in it went to x16.

I'm at work but will try it and confirm later on.

Set Windows to High Performance mode and it should lock to X16.

turns out this was not the fix for me. gpu is still in x4? however my gtx 780ti runs in x16..
tracking shows my new motherboard will be here tomorrow so i can test in my system and not the boys.

If ya use performance profile on windows it locks your minimum CPU to 100% also, so i would change that setting manually if ya want it to clock down still.
