My old PC with a R9 390 + i7 4770K could run 99% of games on 'minimum', so it's useful to compare, and maybe as a tool to see how long you will be able to run the latest games without issues.

The test does seem a bit lenient on some of the latest top games, like Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition, which recommends a RX 6800 XT.

According to the test, my RTX 3070 is equivalent to this GPU (so it passes), which just isn't correct.

Recommended should really mean 60 FPS, unfortunately a lot of the latest games are publishing multiple categories of system requirements nowadays, which complicates things somewhat.

Yeah, minimum system requirements are only meant as a rough guideline, not as pass/fail. Things like dx 11/dx12 or pixel shader requirements generally can't be ignored though.

I think the game developers just roughly estimate them generally. My experience with recommended requirements, is that they are generally a bit low, and don't necessarily mean a target of 60fps, devs are often more focused on console development where lower framerates are common. following the rec. specs might generally allow 60fps at 720p resolution...

In fact, they could add a new category for gameplay at 60fps 1080p.

Including DVD-ROM reqs seems like an anachronism though...

Isn't there a new feature to run Windows 10 in a virtual environment? If you are worried and still want to run the test with 0 risk, you could just install the exe within the virtual Win. 10, then run the test.
