Hey guys,

looking at the student version of windows 7 Professional 64bit and on software4students there is a new message which says microsoft have changed the rules and software so you cant install this as a clean install onto blank drives, before you could cheat it in a few ways that were sort of allowed by MS.

Dont want to get into a copyrights debate but all i want to know is whether anyone knows if this newest batch of Windows7's on the student sites can still be double installed or regedited to make them work as a clean install of retail version would?

Cheers

The upgrade is leaves quite a clean copy anyway, unlike the old upgrades like XP, so shouldn't be a big problem?

As you should know from the other thread that yes you can use the double-install method. You are only breaking the license agreement if you do not have any legitimate qualifying OS at all.

So, if you're planning to use it to upgrade a computer with an Enterprise copy of Windows or pirated version or no copy of Windows at all, you are technically not allowed to use the upgrade.
