I also have 1.4 35mm but don't really have anything wide enough apart from a 18mm f2.8.
Can you still use a 18mm 2.8 lens for shooting the milky way

Yes.Thank you. If I fail I'll use my RX100 M2 which I will be carrying around as spare.
