I used to use Azereus. Having just reinstalled windows using Nlite, I didnt want to start clogging my system up again. Hence I was loathe to use Azeraus, as it would mean installing Java again. Which would defeat the whole point of using nLite in the first place.
So now im using uTorrent. Give it a while and you'll become accustomed to the new UI. In fact, I now prefer it over Azereus.
Maybe you dont get two panes, one for uploads, one for downloads. However on the left hand pane you get filter options. All, Downloading, Uploading, Active, Inactive. I find this much more cleaner than having two panes....
The biggest bonus is that it uses very little resources. After all, you dont really sit there and watch Azereus download do you? So its better for my system for uTorrent to be running in the background using less resources than Azereus.
Im disapointed to hear that people are seeking to limit their uploads. I hope you end up getting banned from all the trackers. Having an excessive upload can slow your downloads, but thats no excuse to limit your upload speed to 5kBs. Set your upload speed to half your upload bandwidth and you should have no problems, and it WONT affect your download speed.
Remember if everyone set their upload speed to 5kBs you wouldn't be getting the 700kbs on the good torrents that you get... (you know who you are

).
