Ive just installed a new Asus Sound card. I disabled the Onboard audio in bios and then installed the drivers from CD. yet something is conflicting and I get nothing.

Sorry Im a noob with this stuff :(

Were those not there before you installed the sound card?

Go onto the properties of each one of those devices then to the details tab and select hardware ids from the drop down list then post the VEN_XXX&DEV_XXXX numbers here or whack them into google.

hedge you have 11000+ posts......how can you be a noob at this stuff?

go in to control panel and click the sound icon....find your asus sound card and choose it as default...should work after that

its default on everythin lol.

it actually bluescreened on me when i ran a sound "Test" through control panel.

turn the audio back on in the bios hedge.....it shouldnt conflict and the pc will only use the one it is told to use by default.....make sure the xonar is set in the sound menu and plug your speakers into it...hopefully should be good to go at this

I'd say leave the onboard audio turned off in BIOS... I have the same problem with my setup, if the onboard is enabled then my audigy doesn't work - turn the onboard off and it comes back to life

worried me a few times after an overclocking fail followed by a cmos reset lol

did you choose your audigy as default when the onboard was on in the bios?
if 2 sources of sound are installed by default it will choose onboard sound so youd need to tell it otherwise

It's been asking for a Microsoft uaa bus hi def audio thing. I'm on phone now but that was the case last night.

Time to buy Windows 7 I think :(

all you need is a driver hedge....

google microsoft uaa bus blah blah and it will come up.... install it

or windows 7 and be hassle free in most cases :D

Will it? Oh I didn't realise it would change the default - the Audigy was default, when I restarted it after clearing cmos it didn't work, turned onboard off and it worked - didn't check before turning the onboard off though

Did that last night. Got a file installed then got a blue screen lol :D

Does your board have the EPU engine on it? If the driver is'nt installed for EPU engine you get a question mark in device manager like you have.

Download the latest Xonar driver from Asus website as well.

Cammy I just got home from work and started pc. now for the first time that Microsoft thing hasnt pinged up...

Now Im playing a film and the Xonar audio centre EQ is moving as if there is sound, yet im getting nothing from speakers. control panel has xonar selected for all

Sounds like you've got the speakers in the wrong jack at the back of the card....check it hedge and let me know....I've had this issue before with xp

ive tried each jack. didnt work unfortunately :(

I just downloaded latest drivers now the Xonar has an ! next to it in device manager and is not longer recognised in sound devices. lol.
