Can you under clock a card???

I have a ATI 4870 1gig, with 8.10 cat driver i have two profiles one normal speed with 28% fan and the other is overclocked with 40% fan speed.

Now could i underclock the first profile for desktop computing and save power and life of card, or could this be bad for the card.

yep and you can drop the volts needed to aswell if you want to get into bios editing and flashing.
