Can you upgrade RAM on a laptop easily?

So can you? I don't fancy paying an extra £300 to get 4Gb on a Dell laptop so is it possible to upgrade it myself?

Yep usually a flap on the bottom of the laptop

Dell also have a habit of housing one stick below the keyboard. But the keyboard is easy to remove.

make sure you get the correct ram
don't expect ram to be compatible with each other

i have just found this out after upgrading the ram on my laptop

best to check what you already have in the laptop

The "Division of Micron" have a great checker for laptop memory and they are very quick at listing new models.
The Vostro laptops from Dell are already listed.

Never buy a memory upgrade from Dell - simple as that.
Even when we buy servers from them, we buy them with the minimal amount of RAM (usually 512MB) and then buy the 4GB or 8GB of RAM eleswhere as you save a lot of money.
