Hi, Im using a netgear dg834gt (latest firmware) in an upstairs bedroom because thats where the phone socket is. If running an extension downstairs it logs on at 3mbits rather than 4mbits.

Anyway, I just got a laptop & when using wifi downstairs it has about 50% (3 of 5 bars) signal strength & sometimes it it logs off for a minute if the signal drops to eg 30%.
Also the router & lapy have 108 speed wifi but the lapy only connects at 54 speed.

I have a spare BThomehub2 lying around which I cant use on broadband as BT is not my ISP, so I was thinking if I could use this downstairs as a 'repeater' for LAN / Internet traffic therefore curing the wifi speed downstairs.
Is this possible?

thanks

Bear in mind that a new antenna can't magically increase the power of your wireless point. It will make the signal stronger at the cost of being more directional.

The antenna i have and was inferring to is a 9dbi omni directional type (it is like an original but thicker and longer, about a foot long )
