I was just about to order a quest 2 and then thought i try my rift (cv1) first which i haven't used for about 4 years

But trying to set up my rift while sitting at my PC desk was just about impossible as it kept telling me the sensors were to close to me (my desk is only 60cm deep)..

Now i thinking buying a Quest 2 would be like throwing over £300 away as it may suffer from roughly the same problems with the camera tracking

So does anyone know if you can setup and use a Quest 2 while sitting at your desk ??

I wouldn't advise it too much though, since you can smash your hands against it :D.

Sit in your chair, but have your arms free to wave around :D. When you start you will setup a guardian play space, if there's stuff in it, it'll warn you, but you can continue with that. My play space includes my computer desk, but I use the bottom of a sofa cushion to know which way I'm facing, so I don't wave too much behind me. If I set the guardian to not include the desk, it'd constantly trigger, which is why I include it.

Do not. I repeat, DO NOT! try and play Gorilla tag.

Plenty of room for VR fishing over your bed though.

What are you intending to play?

I play PCVR games like elite and project cars 2 through the Oculus app and Steam VR with a wireless xbox pad over a usb cable while sitting at the desk. The pad can be used to work the headset menus to an extent.
I've played games with the touch controllers either standing or sitting with my back to the desk over a cable or wirelessly. As long as your hands are in line of sight of your face or the headset can guess where they went it'll work.
Native headset games you can play in another room if you need more space. I've put my old pc behind the tv in the living room for less demanding PCVR game#

Sorry knocked my drink over the laptop. Not blown up yet.

Basically you have options wired or wireless that can use as much or as little space as you have, seated or standing. The guardian system can be annoying. It fades in a tron like grid around you according to controller position. You can physically hide the controllers if using a pad, set the guardian larger than your play area or set up a developer account and turn it off altogether according to the game and play space.
