Can you use a spare motherboard 8-pin cable for a graphics card instead of the 6+2 pin?

sorry if dumb question. I have a 4070 8-pin and looking for power supplies trying to avoid untidy splitter cables for a clean look

No. It's keyed differently anyhow (the individual plastic ends have a different shape layout). You'd have to force it. Don't!

Hi all, I've read some conflicting information about using the CPU4+4 output on my PSU for GPU connection. Does anyone know if its possible to use a PCI-E 8 Pin cable to connect a GPU on the 8 pin port marked "CPU" on the PSU? I have used all of the GPU ports and would like to connect another...

I think adapters exist to convert the pinouts, but I can't recommend it as I've never used one.
