Can you verify my new build

Hi,
I'm building a new computer. I'll use it for everything :D ... mainly programming but also a bit of games, a bit of 3D graphics. I'm not planning to overclock it to some crazy speeds, I think around 4.2 GHz will be enough for me. That's what I'm planning to buy:
  • Intel Core i7-3770K 3.50GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor (77W) - Retail
  • Crucial RealSSD M4 128GB 2.5" SATA 6Gb/s Solid State Hard Drive (CT128M4SSD2)
  • Gigabyte Z77-D3H Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard
  • Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM 1TB SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache - OEM (ST1000DM003)
  • BitFenix Merc Beta Gaming Case - Black
  • Gelid Tranquillo CPU Cooler (Socket 754/939/940/AM2/AM2+/AM3/LGA775/LGA1155/LGA1156/LGA1366)
  • Corsair Vengeance Low Profile 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (CML4GX3M2A1600C9)
  • Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Compound (3.5g)

I'll also use graphics card GTS 250 and PSU Corsair GS700 (700W) from my current computer.

Can you verify that it will work with this specs, are all the components compatible with each other?
Also what else do I need to buy? Any cables (SATA, etc) or do they come with the mobo or something?
Would you change anything on the list?

I had the bitfenix merc case, became kinda hot and tight with wiring ect once everything was in there, that's my experience though! Nice smooth case overall

I think 4gb ram would make you suffer, since when 1 of my ram stick went faulty I got a lot of "Low on memory" errors when gaming in BF3 and GTA on 4gb of ram.

3770K is a very powerful processor GTS 250 is a pretty weak GPU so in gaming GPU will bottleneck the whole system without a doubt.

I would possibly sacrifice the SSD for a better GPU, but I dont do programming and use PC mainly for games... So FPS for me is more important than how fast windows loads

That's what I would be aiming for, you never gave a budget so I don't know how much you are willing to spend.

Same CPU and mobo as you spec'd. Twice the RAM at a fair price, and double the capacity on the storage drive. Case is slightly better for not much more and the heatsink is slightly cheaper too :)

Nothing really wrong with what you have chosen, except you don't the need tube of paste. The gelid cooler comes with a syringe of the stuff and yes the mobo comes with all the sata cables you will need. Hope this helps any questions or problems you know where to find us

Thanks for the replies. The budget ... hmm .. I don't have any specific budget I'm aiming at around £600 - 700 but I'm pretty flexible on that.
I'll definately go for the outlaw case if it's better, about the HDD I don't think I need 2TB but since the price difference is small I'll think about the 2TB, maybe I'll take it just in case.
And about the heatsink, the reason I've chosen Gelid Tranquillo is because I've read that it's very quiet and noise is what annoys me a lot when using computer. How does the Akasa Nero 3 compare to Gelid Tranquillo in terms of noise?
Yes, I know that for most games these days 4GB of RAM and this GPU may not be enough but I'm not really a gamer. I've got two games that I play quite often: X-plane and GTR Evolution, not much besides that. I think those two games run fine on 4GB. Also another problem with more than 4GB is that I use Linux as my primary system and last time when I used 64-bit Linux I've had a lot of problems with my wireless drivers. In fact it was around 2 years ago so things might have changed but I think I'll go with 4GB for now and if I decide that I need more I'll add another 4GB later on.
Thanks once again and let me know if you have any other suggestions.

For some reason I feel Linux would struggle to support 3770k`s hyperthreads... making them useless.

Really? Why? I've got Arch Linux on my netbook. It's got Atom N570 I believe and hyperthreading works well there. Is there any reason why it wouldn't work with 3770k?

Thanks, I'm just reading it now but even after reading the first 2 paragraphs it's clear that 3770k works very well on Linux .... but I'm still reading :D

EDIT:
Just finished reading. It seems like it works fine on Linux, in fact some features are missing (mainly the ones related to Intel HD Graphics) but it's nothing that I care about.

So does anyone know how is the noise of Akasa AK-CC4007EP01 Nero 3 CPU Cooler compared to Gelid Tranquillo CPU Cooler?
