Can you "weigh in" alloy wheels?

Hi,

I'm fitting some new wheels to the girlfriends car this weekend as one of the old ones is slightly buckled, is it normal to weigh alloys in if they still have the tyres fitted?

If so does anyone know anywhere in the Machester area?

They might take them with tyres on but to make the best money for them you want to take them in as clean aluminium (I was told no tyres or valves). I got £35 for a set of 16x8s.

You'll almost certainly have to get the tyres removed, but yes you can weigh them in for scrap.
