I'm looking at getting away with the Mrs in a couple of weeks time for a 5 day break.
We're thinking the Canaries are probably our best option so wondered if there's any recommendations for somewhere to go that has cafe's, bars and restaurants open at this time of year.
We're not particularly bothered which Island but just somewhere we can have a walk out of our Hotel and find some nice places to eat and drink.

Thanks :)

Playa Blanca. We've stayed twice at Hotels just to the East of the town. There's a nice walkway along the sea that links the town and a marina / shopping centre / restaurant centre to the East. Plenty of choice depending on whether we walked west to the town or east to the marina. We nicknamed it the "Cats of Lanzarote" walk as that's where the local ferals hung out to make us feel guilty ours was in cat prison :D

We lived in Gran Canaria for a couple of years.

The south of the island can be well sleazy around Maspalomas (but there are some nicer places too). We lived in the North of the Island but would often go down to Mogan (right at the end of GC-1). Theres a Radisson Blu there which is pretty nice and you can walk to the smallish beach which is fairly upmarket and with plenty of restaurants etc (If I remember correctly there is a submarine you can take a trip on which was quite fun). It's a nice place to base out of if you want to explore the island.

The island is almost certainly at full swing at this time of year due to all the Scandi's flocking down to catch some winter sun.

Got back last week from travelling around the Canaries for 10 days. I started off in Lanzarote and I also stay at Playa Blanca. Close to the beach and plenty of bars etc by the sea front. Nice and quiet too which I wanted.

Thanks for all the suggestions, it's much appreciated.
We've narrowed it down and just looking at hotels now, hopefully get it all booked sometime tonight, cheers.
