Hey guys,

My 6800GT died a few days ago so after some helpful comments on this forum i decided to order an x1950 pro to replace it. This i ordered on sunday whilst there were 2 in stock, cost me £215 inc deliverly.

Now i see that there are not only more on the way that will be £40 cheaper, but also there are 512meg sapphire cards coming in that are also cheaper than the 256 i just bought.

Would it be worth me cancelling my order and pre-ordering a 512? how big a difference does that extra memory make?

Feeling a little ripped off at the moment lol :)

*shakes fist in anger at jubei

You got the card I was after! :D

You got the XT I assume? Someone in a thread just below this has said it is better than the 512mb version. I'm curious as to how much faster it is though.

No mate mine is AGP, so its a pro

Well turns out they were out of stock on gecube despite showing in stock when i ordered, i was in a queue for new batch on 29/12 paying the £215 for it.

Cancelled that and pre-ordered a 512 sapphire due on the 21/12 and saved £17.

Nice :)

Id edit those competitor prices out as not allowed, and you should have just got the GeCube from here as its only £187, and theres loads in stock.

Lol the prices were from ocuk, its agp versions of the card mate and when i ordered mine at the weekend it was £215 inc delivery. Prices changed since to be much cheaper but they are all out of stock, so now i getting the 512meg version.

Well one reason for using a 512mb card instead of a 256mb card would be for example if you play 2 games at once i.e 2 characters within a massive multiplayer online role-playing game such as EverQuest, when I used a 256mb card I would regularly run out of graphics memory i.e everything eventually turns white then crashes, when I upgraded to a 512mb card this problem did go away! :)

That's interesting to know, as Everquest 2 seems a right resource hug/poorly programmed.

I'm more interested in fan noise between the GeCube and Sapphire. But as the Sapphire hasn't been released yet there's no user feedback.
