Found an online vehicle with a reputable retailer and paid the standard fee to remove from listing while waiting the vehicle prep. A collection date has been scheduled but I’m waiting confirmation and I’m yet to pay the balance. I need to step away from the sale but can’t find any details on the standard fee. If I decline the sale will I get this back?
If I travel to and don’t like the vehicle I can reject it but that seems a lot of faff to reach the full refund.

I need to submit an email to them outlining my request to with draw and include a reason so I would appreciate others experiences here.

Have you viewed the car?
If unseen then I think an online deposit should be easy to get refunded. Even if you have viewed the car you can still walk and get your deposit back.

Last year, I had a viewing and a test drive of a car, put down a £500 deposit in their offices by credit card, completed the paperwork including signature and changed my mind after the event. I asked for the £500 deposit to be refunded less any admin fees they may have incurred. After a few days I got the full £500 refunded.
The dealer was not happy with losing the sale but had no problem in refunding the deposit. I would certainly consider buying from them in the future, it was a positive experience.

I remember once putting a hefty deposit down on a car i wanted to test drive.

I travelled quite some distance to view and test.

Scalextric refused to give me my deposit back at the end! I did crash the car on a very sharp bend!

I've recently noticed that there appears to be more and more stealerships that bully people into paying deposits.

One of my recent examples - https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202504010822639 - Asian bloke with hard bham accent was really pushy, saying that there loads of interest. Car not only has already been relisted, but its been up for sale with no photos for over a month. lol If the car was listed in Bham or Bradford, it would really be a textbook example of dodgy dealers. :D

Hello & Good Evening,

Thankyou for the responses,

The seller is car360 and I have only seen a few images of the vehicle from pre vehicle preparation.

All communication has been remote via phone or email.

A provisional collection date was booked but it’s only when the preparation process is complete can an actual date be agreed. I made no special requests to prioritise the preparation and haven’t received notification that the preparation is complete.

I have now submitted my request for cancellation and return of the £249 deposit paid.

Let’s see how tomorrow goes with their emails and phone calls, i will drop an update into this threat for your information / interest and for anyone who searches this very question.

hmm

i cant see a way to reserve a car online
i can only see purchasing a car through finance as the only option, did you call them?
