Cancelling a contract early

Hello there.

I am currently a year into my 18 month contract with 3 mobile. I find the service absolutely useless and the phone too (NEC 338)

Is it possible to cancel the contract early? If so, do you think i would get charged?

I have sent an email to 3 directly but I got an automated email back saying they are experiencing high amounts of mail at the minute due to the events in Mumbai and will reply to me as soon as they can.

I think I will have to suffer the remainder of the contract When 3 reply to my question, I will let you know what the outcome is.
