How do i cancel my gold subscription plan on xbox and just go back to silver once its run out? i cant find the option on my account settings page.

You pay by Credit card? If so you have to phone them.

Aye, credit card and they will try and charge you again (regardless of what you do).

If the sub was bought via a sub card or code, it will go to silver automatically.

I used this one from the MS site - 0800 587 1102.

I spoke to two people to get my card removed, the first was simply somone who booked the helpdesk call, then the following day I had a call from a supervisor.

Made me chuckle though, they asked me to call on the 1st of May, sub ran out by then, to confirm that I hadn't been re-billed.

What happens if the credit card you paid on doesn't actually exist any more, i.e. the account was closed down sometime last year...

Correct me if im wrong but when they come to take the money off your card and they find they cant they will ban your account.

Have to phone them up to get it removed, or again, you can get suspended. This has happened to a friend of mine and if I remember correctly it was an absolute pain in the arse for him to change cards.

crazy! If I bought a 12 month gold card and extended my service using that, they wouldn't try to charge the card as long as I did it before the original 12 month period expired would they?

JUst out of curiosity if i added the month free xbox live trial that i got from gta4 would that stop me getting banned as im in a similar situation. If it doesn't i really cant be bothered with it

I dont think you get your account band, as i used to pay with my old debit card which got cancelled due to it being lost. When i issued with a new one.. i never updated the live! system. After a few weeks my live! account wouldn't work but simply said i was on silver until i updated the system with a "working" card or pre-paid cards number.
