Looking at buying a new car soon and on the hunt for insurance quotes, with a new provider they're under half as cheap as I've been offered if i stay with my current insurers so, even with the fee to get out, it's still going to be a whole load cheaper.

I'm guessing with the no claims, I'm just going back to the last whole years bonus and won't lose out on all or most of it?

I think you do lose the no claims for that year. But if you're over 5 years it makes no difference anyway most of the time.

yeah just goes back to what it was at the start of the current policy. i found that going from maximum down to 3 years after a small claim actually made very little differance.

you lose the current year as you haven't completed it.
