Hi all,

I need to cancel my VM package as I'm leaving the country, I rang yesterday and found out my early disconnection fee is £144.

I have Phone & TV on both 'M' service tiers and Broadband at XXL - see here. http://store.virginmedia.com/the-le...-optic-services/early-disconnection-fees.html

Now, I understand I'm in a contract, so I know I'll incur a charge, which is fine. But I'm wondering if I change my Broadband to say the S package, then call back to cancel, if this would affect my disconnection fee, as in decrease it. Does anyone know this?

Thanks!
Jake

I couldn't downgrade during a contract with them, I did when the contract expired but remember it is another 12 month contract.

You should be able to downgrade. The issue is you would need to cancel your disconnection request first, then request to downgrade the pack, however the downgrade its self could come with a new 12 contract so might not really be worth downgrading. Another option would be to transfer the account to someone else at the property if that is an option, but they would have to be happy to have the account for 12 months and pay the transfer fee.

Apparently VM did i package called the.. Time out package a few years ago which did the following.

Digital TV – limited TV service ( BBC1, BBC2, ITV, Channel 4, FIVE and Sky 1). No access to premium channels
- Phone – All incoming calls will be diverted to Advanced Voicemail. All outgoing phone calls will be barred
- Broadband – Broadband services at the property will be temporarily disabled, however customers will be able to access email via the webmail facility

All for £5 Per month

Give them a ring to see if this is still an available option.
