Cancelling Xbox live?

Remember kids MS are *** evil.

It's easy to cancel Sky, Broadband, my telephone provider, my mobile provider, my magazine subscriptions without phoning anyone up....

Is phoning genuinely too hard for you? If so I do not mind phoning on your behalf with your details to cancel your account.

yeah right, lol, and yes its to hard, i haven't a phone in the house, means i gotta put my coat on and go and find a chav proof phone box., and hope i don't get mugged on the way home.

J/k

Point is it the option should be available, everything else is these days.

Thought I'd post here instead of starting a new thread.

Just had an email saying my renewal is due next month. I'd got a free month laying around from when my 360 packed up so thought I'd stick that on. Just had another email saying I'd successfully renewed my 12 month sub ! Whhaaaat?

It's like crocodiles, you need to stick a pencil in MS's eye to make them let go.

its for user protection
you would probably cry more about it if your live id was hacked and your gamertag cancelled as no bringing it back

It's clearly not for user protection as people hijack others accounts by ringing them up and phishing sufficient information out of them !

Best thing to do is to put one of those free codes you get with a game. Then it won't renew automatically.

The reason they have the procedure they do is I assume because people are naturally lazy and therefore often will allow a subscription to automatically renew rather than pick up a phone for ten minutes.

There may be other reasons but the main one will be for cash gain.

wrong,

just got my 360 repaired and had 1 month free gold with it on return. Have about 9 months left on my xbox live sub paid for by CC.So anyway added the 1 month pre paid code from the card and it went through Ok and then got a e-mail saying welcome to xbox Live your sub will run out on X date 2009 which was correct as it had now made it 10months due to what i had left when i paid by CC. Then i got another e-mail straight after saying "Your subscription to Xbox Live 12 mo. Gold Membership is scheduled to be automatically renewed on X month 2009"

so no it won't change it if you have CC details stored and the only way to get rid of them is by Phoning which i think is poor this day and age when they are hoping you have forgotton all about it and they take the cash automatically. A simple "remove credit card payment option" in Dashboard or windows Live surely cannot be to hard to implement.
