**** Cancer

Horrible stuff to hear. Hope you’ve got some solid family/friends support through this time for both you and the wife, especially to help out with the kids.
The stuff about your wife sounded terrible, but it’s near unbelievable that you then had your own problem. :(

The last paragraph has some things you shouldn’t be feeling. Regardless of differences of opinions, this place is a great community, and I hope everyone here can keep in good health. Best wishes to both you and your wife.

Heartbreaking to read your situation. Your ability to keep it together and focus on your children is unfathomably commendable. Whatever the outcome, it sounds to me like you are parents to be proud of.

Wishing you and the family all the best.
Cancer is just horrific :( my dad had Lung cancer twice, received good treatment both times and still with us.

Cancer is revolting, it takes no prisoners, doesn't care and rips lives apart.

For those reading this thinking it only happens to someone else — think again. It will rear its ugly head and turn the best of days into the worst of years. Nothing makes you immune; money counts for nothing, and it destroys lives without mercy.

D.P. I wish you and your family every strength for the road ahead <3

That's awful news D.P. Rooting for you and your wife.

I'm not looking for sympathy or any support. I just want you all to reflect on your lives,
I've had stage 4 kidney cancer (now removed. 1 kidney left) and metastatic secondary lung cancer. 18 months of Immunotherapy. Still soldiering on. What was originally a year at best has turned in to 5 years so far.

I wish you and your family strength in what lies ahead. Cancer is a foul disease that touches so many of us.

So sorry to hear this mate, Cancer needs to do one...

I know it won't fix anything but I'm always lurking on here and you can always ping me a message if you need to talk or vent anything!

Thoughts are with you and your family really sorry to hear what you're going through.
Cancer seems to be everywhere now. I wish some of the world's billionaires would put some of their money to good use to fight it.

My mother-in-law was misdiagnosed and fobbed off with Tennis Elbow for 18 months - Wife finally attended GP with her to push for an MRI a week before Christmas 2012, which showed a golf ball sized mass on her cervical spine and shadows in lungs, spleen and liver...

...they removed the malignant tumour in her neck, but the shadows were Stage 4 lung cancer which had spread to spine, spleen, liver and mets in her brain. Given an optimistic 6 months.

...

Exactly same as my GFs mum.

"it's just a bad back."
Again and again.

Eventually got a scan. And was s4. Terminal lung that had spread.

Worst part is they are fairly well Off. And a private mri is only a few hundred quid.

If anyone feels that their GP is fobbing them off... Please just book a MRI.
Vista health do them for under 400 when I had one.
Many people think nothing of paying 400 a month in car finance.
Please take your health seriously. You only have to be wrong once!

Same as my partner's Mum. It's just a bad back, have some physio, take some pain relief etc etc, oh wait it's multiple myeloma.

Same story for @Thesnipergecko's wife

This is awful to hear, thoughts with you and your wife DP

Lost too many people close to me to this horrible disease and it's just getting more and more common

That is a really horrible position to be in.
My father (who I didn't get on with and didn't speak to for 25years) passed away back in 2013 after contracting lung cancer. He was given a year after diagnosis and lasted a few days over it.
The stress it can puts families under is immense, so I wish you all the best with your treatment.

It's a very tough and personal thing to share so thank you for your post. All the best to you and your family and I wish you well with the treatment.

Had run ins with cancer in my family too, no doubt along with many others here. Awful things can happen to good people.
