Ready for the usual misguided/misinformed daily "ban this sick filth" mail garbage about this game?

Apparently the ****** stores group have already said they are not stocking this game as and I quote "we feel this game is not appropriate for ******* family-friendly image"

Now let me get this straight due to their "family image" they wont stock this game (rated 15 by the BBFC btw) but no doubt will be filling their boots by the time GTA4 comes around as well as i'm sure still selling all the 15 and 18 rated games they can get.

Talk about headline grabbing hypocrisy  no doubt it'll be on their shelves as soon as the Daily Mail stops caring.

The game itself looks really good and from most reports is about as violent as an episode of Tom and Jerry! and looks like another rockstar cracker.

Having read further about the game, it actually sounds quite interesting. Apparently you play a character that is being bullied, and you have to stand up for yourself as well as protect other kids from being bullied along the way.

When I initially heard about it I assumed it would be a game where you play a bully and have to go around bulyling other kids for their lunch money. :o

I thought the same as you... and Thompson tried to get that banned?! If anything it would show it from the other persons perspective and would reduce bullying. What a ****ing moron.

jack thompson is many things, but the OCUK rules forbid me from saying them.

irregardless, he's wrong ... about so many things.

just wanted to add that.

In the game you don't bully anyone, the worst that happens is playing pranks on teachers and standing up for yourself and others. But Jack Thompson seems to think different one example was that he saw a screenshot of you flushing a black kids head down the toilet and another one where you are beating the same kid with a baseball bat, but its funny that no-one besides him has even seen this. The best thing is that he knew all this before the game was released. He said all this crap way back in March of this year, but Rockstar only started releasing movies and screen shots in August of this year. I'm getting it myself online (from a retailer) anyway like many others so it doesn't affect me as I would never buy a game from either of those retailers anyway.

The basic outline of the game is that you play as Jimmy hopkins who has been thrown out of every school he has ever been to and Bullworth academy is his 'last chance' so to speak. His mother has just re-married again and is going away for a year long honeymoon while Jimmy gets shoved into Bullworth academy by his mother and rich new step-father.

He knows the that this is his last chance so now he must learn to navigate the obstacles of the fictitious reform school without getting into trouble. The main objective of the game is to try to fit in with the different social groups which are:

The Nerds
Every school has its nerds, right? Bullworth Academy is far from an exception. They love to study and spend the majority of their time trying to stay out of trouble with the jocks and bullies. They excel at academia and they aren't afraid to remind everybody how intelligent they are. This gets on everyone's good side, of course. All sports and physical activity are shunned... unless you count rolling the dice in Grottos and Gremlins as exercise.

The Greasers
The greasers are far too cool for school... or so they think. Were it not for the fact that they love hanging out at the school's auto shop - and the fact that their mothers would get upset - they probably wouldn't bother turning up at all.

The Preppies
Bullworth Academy is home to a wide range of children from a mixture of social backgrounds. Most of the pupils reside in the dorms. However, if your parents can prove their wealth, you may be granted admission to Harrington House. The most popular way of ensuring your place in those hallowed halls is a large cash donation.

The Jocks
Like many tough schools, Bullworth Academy places a high value on the achievements of its sports teams. At Bullworth, pretty much anybody who secures a place on one of those teams becomes a jock overnight. There's something infectious about the way they talk to each other and walk around the school as though they're in charge. Once you're accepted by them, it's hard to go back. On top of the new-found respect, the jocks benefit from the fact that Dr. Crabblesnitch loves football and is willing to ignore flagrant stupidity - even complete illiteracy - as long as a boy can catch a ball.

The Bullies
No school would be complete without at least one bully, and Bullworth Academy is well stocked. You might even say it's over-stocked, loaded with thick-headed goons who's only purpose in life is to harass everyone else until they graduate and suddenly realize how shallow and empty their life really is. Not that we have any personal issues here...

Wonder what would be said about Skool Daze or Back to Skool if they came out now?
Indeed mate, was thinking this sounds pretty comparable to those classics.
I dont understand why the press gets its undies in such a twist over a computer game anymore. There are plenty of films about rape, murder, theiving etc and they dont attract half the attention of the media.
I fail to make any distinction between games and movies, they are all simply entertainment.

Because society has to have some form of social entertainment to blame when some kid(s) do some incomprehensible act of evil. Rather then actually looking deeper into the real reasons it's become common practice blame whatever the in-thing is amongst kids. Whether it's movies, Music or games. All those genres have been targets in the past, nowadays it seems to be computer games.
