I was thinking how different this planet would be if the earth was the size of by canis majoris, say it was still 1g. And habitable m

How different life would be, societies never knowing each other, would we have transport, different cultures even different sentient species that so far apart never threat to another. How much would have explored, different technology etc.

An earth planet the size of a star?
I don't think that's geologically possible due to the heat involved it would have to be ludicrous internally.
Someone know better?

People are missing the word "if" in the op

It's an interesting question. I would imagine science and technology would be concentrating on local exploration rather than looking at the moon and mars

I doubt new builds would have tiny gardens and your bins would be emptied weekly.

Well I guess Brexit wouldn't be such an issue!

One of the thoughts with societies not knowing each other would hugely depend on the land mass, human like population may increase more dramatically if there was more space to do so. The available resources would potentially help or hamper technological developments.

If Earth was the size of Canis Major, there's no way its mavity would be a mere 1G.

Similar to a thought I've had when watching documentaries around the ISS and the amount of daily exercise required to prevent/reduce muscle degradation, also what would 1G be? Evolution may make a planet we would deem to be 10G seem to be 1G to the occupants, evolution would in turn be influenced by this.

If we ever manage to reach one most likely all the top ***** would go first and hopefully that would mean we could actually start again on earth here without the greedy sods destroying it

Unless it was made of marshmallow. Or a hollow hideout for a Bond villain. Or it had a supermassive moon and you had to live on rafts following the masshoosive tide around the globe to avoid being crushed by non-tidal mavity. Or... yea, ok, you're right.

Well for one thing, we would still be at least a few hundred years away from being able to put satellites into orbit, because the orbital velocity would be immense. No GPS, no satellite comms.

Depends what it's made of. An artificially constructed planet, consisting of a thin shell surrounding a larger mass selected to provide the exact mavity desired? It's not physically impossible.

It's also not difficult to imagine the builders of this structure abandoning it, or a colony started there forgetting that it was once part of an interstellar empire.
