cannon 450D for the mrs?

Hi OCUK,
The mrs quite enjoys photography, and had been wanting an SLR for while. I'm not sure how much she will actually get into it, so wanted to start of reasonably entry level at first.

I've looked around a fair bit, and the cannon 450D seems like a decent choice in terms of reasonable price (£200ish?) and quite well spec'd against other similar models.

Am i over looking anything huge, or is the Cannon 450D ok to start with?

Any other recommendations?

£200 seems a bit much, I sold my 550D for £180.

450D is what I started on and was fine, but that does seem a little steep. I sold mine with a grip, 3 batteries, kit 18-55 IS lens and a Tamron 28-200 lens for £150.

A 450D is still a decent body but £200 is 40D money and I know which I'd rather have.

There's a low shutter-count 50D with grip in the MM for £250.

(Not mine I might add, but I'd jump on it at that price if I didn't have one)
