Sorry should have said it was previously fine. All my hardrives are sata so there shouldn't be any jumper conflicts? I have just checked and it still reads dvds fine as well? Wonder if it could be a Nero glitch: version 8 ?

upgrade firmware if everything else doesn't help

Try reinstallingt Nero, seen this many times on version 7 and this would make third time on version 8
