We are in the process of moving flat and are trying to close the account of our current energy supplier which is Scottish Power. The only option on their website is for moving to a new address and bringing them over as the energy supplier. The only way to close an account is through the phone lines but they have closed this service due to the corona virus. They literally have no way for customers to close the contract. I’ve got no idea what to do.

Take a meter reading when you move out (including photographs) and cancel your direct debit. Then wait for them to contact you.

I said the same thing but the girlfriend doesn’t want to do this and have her credit rating effected if Scottish power will be chasing her for money owed.

I had same problem the other day, not sure if they changed something but I went through it again yesterday and I think the move date being by then historical got me into a different form which didn’t make me give a new supply address (it did tho ask for an address for the final bill).

im scottish power also ,maybe email at least the time would be logged and you can attach a pic of meter

We are now operating a reduced service in our call centres. To help those most in need, we are only able to take calls from customers who are at risk of going off supply. If you are at risk of going off supply, please call 0800 027 0072, Otherwise, you can email us at [email protected] and we will respond as soon as possible.

If you do what I said, they'll contact you and you pay them, no problem. Even if it did put a blip on a credit rating, it would be insignificant.

Or do what other people have said and email them the details.

Either option works.
