Cannot connect to EA server

Hello,
I've bought a copy of MoH through steam as soon as I saw the advertisment and remembered the good old times where we would play LAN with the guys and have so much fun. So. Downloaded it and installed it and was given a CD-key when I hit play. Nothing happens.
And then a message from EA that says that I cannot connect to EA servers and try another time.
Thing is, my computer is at uni so I run through the university's proxy server and that is why it cannot connect. So i'm stuck with a game I cannot play, not even the SP mode since I need to go online to put the CD-Key.
Anyone knows what I can do ?

probably consult your university about it, surely they must be able to disable certain proxy's? as it is only happening with EA server, are you alright with Activision servers or dont you play call of duty?

They might be blocking EA servers to prevent downloading of EA games via their download manager, it's worth checking with the uni's IT department.
