Hi, I recently uninstalled STALKER but have been left with a shortcut in my Games/Unspecified location. No matter what I do I cannot delete it. I cannot click, right click or drag the item to do anything with it, it is just there. I have tried running Ccleaner and trying to find any registry entries related to it but it still wont budge. Any ideas ?

Nope, I cant do anything with the file, it's just there. I cant right click it to get any options.

It's been a while since I used that program but if you can't browse to the invalid shortcut or file, then just work out where it's located. For example C:\Program files\Games\name of the file.

Easier said than done, been trying for 2 hours to locate it. All remnants of the game have gone apart from this one file. It looks like an .exe file but without the icon, as if it has already been uninstalled (which it has), it just won't go.

Try deleting it in safe mode. I had a folder that would not budge and safemode did it.

Also try taking ownership of the folder

Yes, as the original post says I tried Cleaner, no effect, tried rebooting no effect. Can I take ownership of the folder If I can't even right click it ?

Waheeeey, I finally managed it and it's only taken all day

For anyone else that may get this freakish problem heres how I solved it. Open Regedit and navigate to the following key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\GameUX\S-1-5-21-342044676-311504734-1810751311-1001

You should see a list of confusing looking keys. Click on each one until you find the one which displays information about the game you want to remove.

Right click and delete it, log off or restart and the game/stubborn icon will be gone from the games folder.:D
